KEŽMAROK

Kežmarok is a historic town located in Spiš, at the foot of the High Tatras. Thanks to its rich history, preserved monuments and unique atmosphere, it is one of the most interesting towns in the region. It attracts visitors mainly with its combination of cultural heritage and the opportunity to relax in a pleasant environment.

The city was an important trade and craft center in the Middle Ages, which is still reflected in its architecture. The historic core offers a number of well-preserved town houses, narrow streets and monuments that create an authentic atmosphere of the past.

The dominant feature of the city is Kežmarok Castle, which is one of the best-preserved castles in Slovakia and today serves as a museum. Other important monuments include the Wooden Articulated Church, listed in UNESCO, and the Basilica of the Holy Cross, which is one of the oldest sacral buildings in the city.
